Yule 2007
Yule 2007. This year we had two winter soltice rituals adding a Norse Yule rite to usual Welsh offerings. Dennis led the rite, Kirk was the sacrificer, Nora the sear and Andrea the warrior.

Alban Arthan 2007
Alban Arthan 2007. We once again celebrated Alban Arthan by calling on Lleu Llaw Gyffes and Gwydion. We told the tale of how Gwydion saved the golden-haired Lleu, bringing him back to full life, just as the sun returns to full life beginning at the Winter Solstice.
This year, Rev. Jenni Hunt joined our celebrant team as Sacrificer. Kirk was the Orator, Nora the Seer, Arlene the Bard, Dennis the Warrior, and Cassie was the Sanctifier.

Eight Winds Mountain Earth Festival 2007
Eight Winds Mountain Earth Festival 2007. This was the first ADF festival to be organized in the Northwest Region, and the Clan of the Triple Horses, ADF needs to be commended for their wonderful weekend. We had a High Day rite, an ADF Unity rite, a wedding and an ADF Priesthood consecration! |
Midnight Flame 2007
Midnight Flame 2007. The Midnight Flame Festival is an ADF festival put on by the two Groves in northern Michigan: Grove of
the Midnight Sun, ADF in Bellaire, MI and the Protogrove of the Twilight Flame, ADF
in Sault Saint Marie, MI. This festival has a Norse focus, with a Main Ritual as well as lots of
workshops, fellowship and fun! |

Summerland Festival 2007
Summerland Festival 2007. Summerland was another great festival this year! Put on by the 6th Night Grove, this festival has a great Bardic Night and a moving Unity Rite every year. This year the weather was remarkably warm - hot even. Very little rain, however, made for a great time. And the folks from Three Cranes Grove provided the meal plan! Woof!

Muin Mound Madness 2007
Muin Mound Madness 2007. After an absence of three years, Muin Mound Madness returned this summer with a bang! Organized by Muin
Mound Grove in Syracuse, New York, this year's festival featured workshops, Warrior Games and an
honest-to-Gods pig roast! |

Lughhasadh 2007
Lughnasadh 2007. This year we held our annual Warrior Games and Lughnasadh ritual at Sue and Lugh's house out in Vail. The men
came the night before and we set up a big tent where we worked on the offerings for the main rite, rehearsed our
warriors' dance, and had good male bonding time.
This year's Grove Champion is Bert! All Hail Bert!

Starwood and Sirius Rising 2007
Starwood and Sirius Rising 2007. Once again, Nora and Kirk drove off to New York state for Sirius Rising and Starwood at the
Brushwood Folklore Center. Gannd had to work, so he flew in and joined us later. Linda and
Avery from Phoenix also joined us there, as did Raven and Carrion Mann from Whispering Lake
Grove in Erie, PA, and Diana Parr and Emerald from Sasafrass Grove in Pittsburgh, PA. Medb
and Craig from Feather River Protogrove in Chico, CA also joined us for the full two weeks.
And, as usual, Karen of 6th Night Grove and Kirk hosted Druid Central in Druid Heights. |

Midsummer 2007
Midsummer 2007. This year we were having our first Midsummer Rite in the new venue. Squeezing everyone is was a bit of a problem! We will seriously have to rethink our ritual location.
Mark led the rite as the Orator, with Cassie as the Sacrificer. Kirk was the Seer, Dennis the Warrior, and Nora was the Bard. Jenni, Mariha, Andrea and Kitty all helped out with the ritual play.

Wellspring 2007
Wellspring 2007. The ADF Annual Meeting, held again this year at the Wellspring Festival, put on by Stonecreed Grove, was also
the occasion of an ADF Clergy Retreat.
But lots of ritual and cool workshops went on, as usual, in addition to the Great Sumbel, where folks got to
make boasts, oaths and toasts, and where the new Mother Grove was sworn in.

Calan Haf 2007
Calan Haf 2007. Calan Haf (the Beginning of Summer) was our first Rite to be held at the UU Church in NW Tucson. It was a windy and sprinkly day, but we assembled at our usual time.
This was a Welsh Rite, honoring Rhiannon and Pwyll and the story of the loss of their son, Pryderi, and Rhiannon's punishment at the Gates of Arberth, and the return of their son.
It was also a time to celebrate the Spirits of the Land, and we danced the animal dance. We also dance the Maypole, a great Grove tradition, with great joy and merriment.

Trillium 2007
Trillium 2007. Trillium is a great event which usually starts the ADF festival year. Since it's held in April in the mountains of
Virginia, it can be chilly, but this year was incredible. Sunny days with warm temperatures - enough so that
folks were getting sunburned! This event is organized by Grove of the Seven Hills (GOSH) and Riversong Protogrove, and is held at the Log
Cabin campground just inside the border from West Virginia. The land is wooded but there's plenty of room
for ritual and the annual Warrior Games!

Desert Magic 2007
Desert Magic 2007. This year we held our first Desert Magic outside of Summerlands - up on the top of Mt. Lemmon at a Girl Scout
Camp! We were lucky with the weather - while it got a bit cold at night, the days were quite pleasant. Next
year we'll try harder to get our old May dates.
We had an Opening Rite, honoring Math, the Welsh God of Magic, and we left the Gates open for the
weekend. Francesca held a Slavic ADF Rite (where they sacrificed a cake!) during her class and Gannd led the Unity Rite which utilized the talents of our assembled guests.

Medieval Madness 2007
Medieval Madness 2007. Medieval Madness is a mini-festival organized by the Grove of the Rising Phoenix at a campground just outside
of town. It take place in February and starts on a Friday evening, runs all day Saturday, and ends on Sunday
morning when everyone goes off to the local Renaissance Fair nearby.

Ostara 2007
Ostara 2007. This year, Ostara used the Germanic pantheon, as a special celebration of the Germanic Dawn Goddess, Ostara
(similar to the Anglo-Saxon Eostre) and to the Germanic Earth Mother, Nerthus. To this end, a special Nerthus
cart was built by our Ben for the ritual, and a procesion of a draped, Nerthus statue was made before the people, just as in ancient times. We know that this happened from the testimory of the Roman historian, Tacitus.

Imbolc 2007
Imbolc 2007 . The Women of the Grove performed this ritual once again, led by Senior Druid Nora Ford and assisted by Celebrants Andrea, Arlene and Cassie.
Imbolc this year was more poignant than normal. As Summerlands has gone on the market, the Grove has decided to move, and so this rite would be the last one in the Stone Circle. Appropriately, Imbolc 2002 was also the first rite to be celebrated here. But there was still a tinge of sadness this day. |
