Alban Arthan 2006
Alban Arthan 2006. This year we had 66 attendees for our rite honoring the Gods Lleu Llaw Gyffes and Gwydion
and the Winter Solstice.
Gannd was the Orator, Nora the Sacrificer, Kirk the Seer, Nora the Bard and Mark the Warrior.
Kirk told the story of Lleu, Blodeuwedd and Gwydion, and how Lleu, the wounded Solar Eagle, was
brought back to health by his uncle, Gwydion, much as the sun returns to strength beginning at
the Winter Solstice.

Yule 2006
Yule 2006. In early December, the Grove held a Norse Rite for Yule, celebrating the Dark Elves.
As this was our first Norse Rite, it was only open to Grove members, and Modig, from Awen's Breath Grove in Los Angeles led the rite, with our own Dennis as Sacrificer. Other Awen's Breath member, Jack and Elizabeth Richards, joined us, as well as Rising Phoenix Grove member Linda Costello. |

Samhain 2006
Samhain 2006. As usual, we spend time offering to our sacred Dead, with Dennis sacrificing a pony keg of beer. We also spoke the names of all our Dead who passed on this year, including our war dead in Iraq and Afghanistan. We offered specially to the Morrigan and the Dagda, and to Lugh Lamfhada. Our ritual play was about the Dagda's trip to the Fomors, His meeting with Morrigan at the river Unius, and the second battle of Moytura, where Lugh killed Balor. |
Three Realms 2006
Three Realms 2006. This year, Three Realms was jointly organized by Ravens Cry Grove and Awen's Breath Protogrove. There were a variety of rituals, from Roman to Slavic to our Opening rite and Main Unity rite as well as classes, from writing simple chants to ADF cosmology to Roman liturgy, etc. |

Cernunnia 2006
Cernunnia 2006. At our Annual Meeting, held during the Cernunnia (the Festival of Cernunnos) in October, we elected a new
Senior Druid and Executive Committee. We also amended our Bylaws in a significant way. Nora Ford was elected Senior Druid, Andy Miller was elected Treasurer and Cassandra Sparrold was elected Secretary. |
Alban Elfed 2006
Alban Elfed 2006. This year we agreed to take the ritual at the Tucson Area Wiccan/Pagan Network's annual festival, Fall Fest,
held in Reid Park. It was in the Welsh Pantheon and the Deities of the Occasion were Bendigeidfran and Branwen. |

Summerland 2006
Summerland 2006. Once again, the Summerland Festival was a terrific time to meet friends old and new, discover fascinating
ideas in the workshops and attend great rituals. The main rite this year was both an ADF Unity Rite
as well as the consecration of Michael J Dangler as an ADF Dedicant Priest. |
Lughnasadh 2006
Lughnasadh 2006. For Lughnasadh this year, the Grove decided to hold the event at Catalina State Park. Friday would be the men's vigil, with the warrior games held Saturday morning and a skills fair that afternoon. The High Day rite would be held Saturday evening. This was to be a camping event.
However, the monsoon really kicked in, and flooding closed the park. So at the last minute the Grove decamped up to Mark and Julian's house in Oracle. The skills fair was cancelled, but we managed to do most of the rest. |

Sirius Rising and Starwood 2006
Sirius Rising and Starwood 2006. SSG Grove members Kirk Thomas, Gannd, Nora and Dennis Ford, Jessica Olson, Craig Wilcox, Kitty and
Tish Haymer attended this year. As usual, with the able assistance of Ansara of 6th Night Grove in Dayton, OH,
we were once again 'Druid Central' for these two events. A new camp kitchen setup was a very welcome addition
to the equipment this year.

Midsummer 2006
Midsummer 2006. For this year's Gaulish rite, Julian Greene (Orator) led us all in turning our wills towards
bringing the rain, and mixed that with appeals to the Great Thunderer Himself,
Taranis. We had 107 people attend this rite!
Mark was the Sacrificer, Nora the Seer, Arlene the Bard and Dennis the Warrior. |

Wellspring - the ADF National Meeting 2006
Wellspring 2006. The ADF National Meeting is a great event to attend if you want to meet the movers and shakers in our Church. Lots of them attend, and they're all really friendly and happy to meet with the membership. The hospitiality of Stonecreed Grove and the Chenile Canopy cannot be beat, and when the weather cooperates (like it did again this year) it's an even more fabulous event! We had workshops, rituals, a bardic evening (including a limerick competition) and lots of time sitting around the campfire talking with old and new friends. |
Desert Magic Festival 2006
Desert Magic Festival 2006. This year was one of our best Bardic evenings ever! Grovie Lily wrote a play based on a Norse myth which Grove members performed - all about the time that Loki had to dress up Thor as a bride in order to trick the Giants into giving back Thor's hammer. It had to be one of the funniest things we've ever seen.

Beltane 2006
Beltane 2006. This year's Beltane was enormous fun! There was much joy and laughter to complement the work of our Rite. Mark was the Orator, Jon made his debut as the Sacrificer, Nora was the Seer, Arlene the Bard and Dennis the
Warrior. Andrea was the Sanctifier.
We continued in our traditions of the Dance of the Nature Spirits and the Dance of the Maypole, where Stephen
and Tish were chosen to be the May King and May Queen. |
Trillium 2006
Trillium 2006. Trillium is the first ADF Festival of the season, taking place in mid-April in the mountains of Virginia.
Organized by Little Acorn Grove, this festival is a wonderful time in the woods! This year Kirk went and
taught his classes on Living in Integrity and ADF Cosmology. |
 |
Grove Liturgical Weekend 2006
Grove Liturgical Weekend 2006. Every year, the Grove hosts a free weekend retreat for our members that includes classes on ADF cosmology and ritual, and other spiritual subjects. We also do trance journey work. Free time is spent relaxing at the pool or in the hot tub. |
Alban Eilir 2006
Alban Eilir 2006. This is the Spring Equinox, the Feast of Rhiannon and Pwyll. For our story this year we performed a playlet based on the First Branch of the Mabinogi - the story of Rhiannon and Pwyll, and how she was accused, punished and vindicated.
Kirk was the Orator, Monica was the Sacrificer, Nora was the Seer, Arlene was the Bard, Gannd was the Warrior, and Jon took a turn as the Sanctifier.

Imbolc 2006
Imbolc 2006. This rite is organized and run by the women of the Grove in honor of the Goddess Brigit. This year they had an unusual story - the killing of the dragon of winter - where Brigit brings spring to the Land. This story drew on the Carmina Gaedelica as well as the Indo-European dragon-slaying myths.
Nora was Orator, Monica mad her debut as Sacrificer/Warrior, Julian was the Seer and Arlene was the Bard this year. The Brideog was also processed as well after the Working. |
