MINUTES
at Maxim's Restaurant, Tucson, AZ
6 November, 2002

Present were Gannd, Michele, Kirk, Steve, Morgan, Don & Arlene and guest Doug Dewey.
Minutes. The Minutes of the Annual General Meeting at Michele's house on 16 October were approved as corrected.
1. Correct spelling of "response" in 9.b.
2. Add "and times" after the word Dates in 11.
Pursewarden's Report.
1. The Pursewarden reported that there was $126 in the Treasury at this time.
2. Compass Bank is offering free business checking. Motion: Kirk will open an account. Motion passed unanimously.
3. All three officers will be able to sign checks, but only one will be required.
4. Whoever writes a check will do so only after confirming with one other officer beforehand.

Contacting Past ADF Members in Tucson.
1. Don arrived late to the meeting so he will report next meeting.
Advertising.
1. Gannd came up with two possible ads for use in the electronic community calendars.
  1. Maxim's Ad - Modern Druidry with the Sonoran Sunrise Grove, ADF. A pan-Celtic earth-based religion. Open public meetings in Tucson are on the first Wednesday of the month starting at 6:30 pm at Maxim's Super Buffet Restaurant, 6940 E. Broadway, Tucson.   2. Sample Ritual Ad - Attend the Winter Solstice Ceremony with the Druids of the Sonoran Sunrise Grove, ADF. A pan-Celtic earth-based religion, the ritual will be December 21, 2002 at the Summerlands Stone Circle in Tucson, AZ. The site opens at 4 pm and ritual will begin at 4:30 pm. 1. Kirk will e-mail or snail mail the membership applications for ADF to each member to fill out.
2. Members are requested to bring their completed applications and $15 each to the next meeting.
3. We welcome Sally as a new full member (pending verification of her ADF membership).

Old Business.
1. We have still not heard back from Daki and Lynda about their wedding plans.
New Business
1. Fundraising - could we make more logo items to sell to raise money?

2. Emergency Response Actions - things we may need to know about:
  1. Gannd presented a possible policy statement to the Grove.
  2. Motion: This policy sheet be adopted as an official Grove policy. Motion approved.
  3. Kirk will put this policy on the website as an information page.
3. Ritual Signage - Signs at the Stone Circle
  1. Steve found a sign shop which carries a sign holder which can be left in place. The signs can be removed.
4. Three Realms Event - Ravens Cry Grove, ADF in California
  1. Kirk and Gannd reported that the Three Realms event was wonderful with great classes. See either Kirk or Gannd for more information.
5. Craft Classes. Gannd will teach craft classes if anyone is interested. He is also doing this with the SCA.
6. Welsh Language Lessons. Classes are on Thursday nights and they are free! We will start on November 14th. They will take place at the Foothills Mall and the contact number is 520-579-5371 (Lynn Watts).
7. Harry Potter. TAWN will be getting together to see the new Harry Potter film on Sunday, Nov. 17th around noon.
8. Restaurant Location. Shall we stop going to Maxim's and find a better, quieter and larger venue? Don will check it out for the next meeting.
9. Mind/Body/Spirit Expo. Gannd attended the event and reported that it was only health oriented and of a non-religious nature.
Samhain Ritual.
1. The Samhain ritual went very well. Kirk had memorized the role of Seer. In the Praise Offering section, Kirk sang "Hoof and Horn" while Gannd portrayed Cernunnos and Arlene and Morgan portrayed spirits of the dead. Kirk also led a trance journey to the Isles of Avalon where the participants got to meet up with some of their dead.
2. We had 20 people attend the ritual.
3. Omen - The cards drawn for the Omen were:
  1. Water Dragon - We are coming from a place of deep, inner resources. We have worked hard to get to where we are today, and have much more to offer.
  2. Bull - We are in a place of great potency and prosperity for our Grove. Growing and expanding, we are taking a prime place in the Tucson pagan community. The Kindreds have received our offerings with great favor.
  3. Hare - The card of balance and rebirth means that our challenge is to make over our rituals into ones that grow spontaneously out of us instead of simply being a liturgy read out loud. But as the card was right-side up, I see it as a goal that we can achieve.
