MINUTES
Tucson, AZ
24 August, 2000

Meeting dates were discussed for September. The SSG open meeting will be at JB's at Benson Highway and Park on Thursday 9/7/00 starting at 6:30. The next SSG members meeting will be on 9/21/00. Tracy has offered her place by previous eMail. Tentatively it will be at her place pending their family approval.

Discussion of the Mabon ceremony will take place at the open meeting. TAWN FallFest falls on the closest weekend that may supplement/interfere with the celebration. Information is on the TAWN website www.tawn.org. The TAWN server is changing but the site should still be accessible.

We have three members of SSG that are very active in TAWN. Arlene and Cheryl are nominated as board members and Don is putting in a stint as their Web Minister. SSG discussion continued about providing an SSG website. David has room on his River provider account and will provide more detailed information soon on size and format. Discussion ensued about HTML editors available.

MEAD MAKING CLASS has been scheduled for Saturday September 2, 2000, over the holiday weekend. David has the 1st and 4th off from Raytheon to prepare. The class will be scheduled for Saturday afternoon starting at 1:00. Craig and Cheryl donated $20 for their supplies. David will be purchasing them on the 1st or morning of the 2nd. We have 10 gallons of honey, five large glass carboys and several one-gallon glass jugs to play with.

I have a copy of the Dedicant's Manual for Tracy in binder. Cheryl turned back in several loose copies of the Manual to be given to new members. These were left with Don and Arlene.

Discussion continued with the opening of the Dedicant's Manual. It is divided into three triads of three. Everyone one was given the assignment to read and familiarize themselves with the first Triad and the last section of the manual consisting of using and documenting the Dedicant's Manual. Members were asked to start creating a bibliography of books for the next meeting on druidic related books within their path of study and start a journal if they haven't already. The timeline for the completing the dedicant's path was found to be a minimum of a year due to the attendance requirements of the seasonal celebrations. This may be reduced to previous attendance of other celebrations pending Mother Grove approval.

Skip Ellison will be travelling again to the western United States. He has expressed an interest in specifically visiting Las Vegas with Don as tour guide. Our Region ADF Coordinator is also travelling soon according to his last eMail but has not specifically listed an itinerary.

Craig has completed sewing a ceremonial robe. Robe making discussions and supply sources were presented. Although ADF prefers its Druids and Druidesses in white robes this was not a hard requirement for SSG membership.

Dave will be in his leather shop for most of this weekend. There is a Science Fiction Convention September 8-10 in Scottsdale Arizona that David will be attending. He has a hotel room for the weekend as a party/crash space for visitors attending the convention. Further details on the convention are on the website www.casfs.org.
